Our Story
A journey woven with passion, heritage, and the extraordinary hands of Nepal's finest artisans.
A Love Letter to Himalayan Craftsmanship
Himalayan Cashmere World was born from a deep admiration for the extraordinary artisans of the Kathmandu Valley — a dedicated team who have spent generations mastering the art of hand-looming the world's finest cashmere fiber.
Founded in 2009, we set out with one mission: to bring authentic, ethically-sourced Chyangra Pashmina directly from the hands of Nepalese artisans to the people who would truly appreciate them — bypassing the exploitative chain of middlemen that had long kept artisans from receiving fair wages.
Today, based in Brampton, Ontario, we serve customers across Canada and the USA with the same commitment we started with: transparency, authenticity, and unwavering quality.
The Art Behind Every Thread
From the high-altitude pastures of Nepal to the loom — witness the centuries-old journey of Chyangra Pashmina in this short film.
Inspired by the Himalayas
At 4,000 metres above sea level, the Chyangra mountain goats of Nepal develop an extraordinarily fine undercoat — Pashmina — to survive the brutal Himalayan winters. This fiber is the rarest in the world, with individual strands no thicker than 14–19 microns.
Every piece begins here, in the cold mountain air, before travelling to the skilled hands of Kathmandu's artisans who transform it into something extraordinary.
"Pashmina is not just a fabric. It is a language spoken through generations of hands that never forgot its meaning."
Every thread carries the spirit of the Himalayas — the patience of the artisan, the purity of the fiber, and the promise of something that will last a lifetime. — Himalayan Cashmere World
Why Chyangra Cashmere?
Not all cashmere is created equal. True Chyangra Pashmina — certified by the Nepal Pashmina Industries Association — stands apart from machine-processed alternatives by every measure that matters.
- 14–19 micron fiber diameter — softer than the finest wool
- Hand-combed (never sheared) to preserve full fiber length
- 100% traceable from Himalayan herder to your hands
- Natural colors: undyed options retain the goat's original palette
- NPIDA certified — Nepal's highest pashmina quality standard
- Biodegradable and sustainable by nature
Five Pillars of Our Craftsmanship
Ethical Sourcing
Our fiber is hand-combed — never sheared — ensuring no harm to the Chyangra goats and preserving fiber integrity.
Hand Spinning
Master spinners in Kathmandu draw the fiber by hand on traditional spinning wheels (charkha), creating yarn of unparalleled softness.
Natural Dyeing
We use plant-based dyes and low-impact mordants, protecting both the environment and the delicate pashmina fiber.
Handloom Weaving
Each piece is woven on manually operated looms by artisans who have inherited this craft through generations.

Every item passes our 12-point quality inspection before leaving Nepal — then again before shipment to Canada.
